As an innovator of the culture as we know it today, Pharrell has racked up quite the collection over the years. Now, the 49-year-old entertainer says everything must go in an exclusive auction of some of his most personal valuables.

“My business manager was like, ‘Hey, at this point, you have 11 different storage units,'” said Pharrell in an interview with Financial Times.

He has keepsakes that include everything from a leather jacket featuring “Women’s Rights” across the front to a gold-plated Blackberry.

A New Territory

Rather than doing the traditional fashion auction, the “Happy” crooner has decided to launch his own platform to get rid of the prized possessions.

His new auction house platform, JOOPITER, was created “to embrace the energy that is released when objects change hands, and to respect the value that’s been created around these objects,” said Pharrell in an official press release.

Thinking Beyond Just The Status Quo

Traditional auction house platforms like StockX are worth roughly $3.8 billion, but Pharrell says his items don’t necessarily fall into the norm to be sold in that way.

“There’s not really one size fits all,” he shared with the publication. “I’m not going to sell furniture on StockX. You know what I’m saying, I’m not going to sell, you know, 20-plus-carat diamond rings on [The] RealReal.”

“JOOPITER is a new platform for myself and for my fellow curators, one where existing and future generations of collectors can feel welcome to take part in this exchange.”

And speaking of exchange, the idea of letting go goes beyond just the material realm for Pharrell.

Letting Go Of The Past

“Spiritually it’s a very rich experience, an enlightening experience, to let… stories go,” Pharrell continued during his interview with Financial Times.

The Serial Entrepreneur

The platform should come as no surprise to fans of Pharrell given that the Virginia native has become quite the entrepreneur.

From a signature line with adidas to his own skincare imprint Humanrace and an ownership stake in the Goodtime Hotel, he is taking the term serial entrepreneur very seriously.

Son Of Pharaoh

To kick off his JOOPITER initiative, the “Beautiful” singer will unveil a 52-piece capsule under the title of “Son of Pharaoh.” Each item plays a significant role in telling the journey of Pharrell’s career, which spans decades.

From a reported 18K yellow gold Blackberry flashed during a legendary freestyle on BET to a N.E.R.D. Brain Pendant chain from 2004, if one is a true fan of Pharrell and the impact he has had on the culture, this auction may afford them the opportunity to strike gold.

Shop The Collection

The “Son of Pharaoh” collection will be available for public viewing by appointment during a special auction preview in New York on Oct. 14 and 15.

All proceeds from the JOOPITER sales will go toward advancing Black Ambition’s commitment to Black and Latinx entrepreneurs.
