Whether you’re a founder, an entrepreneur with a startup idea, or a creative with plenty of ideas, Kapor Capital’s Cliff Worley is dedicated to helping you harness the power of artificial intelligence to bring your vision to life.
During AFROTECH™ Conference 2024, Worley took to one of the executive stages to share insights on AI tools that help him remain successful in his industry. Additionally, he gave attendees various resources available to them at the tap of a button.
“I’ve been speaking all around the world on AI. Last year, I got to speak on stage with Sam Altman,” Worley told attendees. “I believe that AI is going to make all those entrepreneurs if you’ve ever had that idea that you’ve always wanted to build, now is the time to do it. There’s a lot of tools out there that can help you build.”
He also spoke about the rise of artificial intelligence as we know it. Contrary to popular belief, AI is not new — it has simply evolved. AI technology had its beginnings in 1950. When the internet was introduced in 1983 and rapidly gained prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it revolutionized the world in a way similar to how social media has reshaped society in recent years.
Worley shared that when he asked an AI tool to create an image representing the current state of artificial intelligence, it produced a chaotic scene of robots fighting, reflecting the complex and dynamic nature of AI today.
“This is one of my favorite quotes around AI and where we’re at. The only way I can describe that is that hundreds of teams are trying to build high-speed rails while thousands of other teams build the trains, and no one has any idea which rails or trains actually work, and there’s a high chance that everything breaks. That’s literally where we are.”
He added, “Now, I look at a lot of AI tools, I actually created this slide in September. There were 17,000 AI tools. I checked this morning, there were 22,000 tools. It used to be two or three hundred per month, but now it’s thousands a week. And I think it’s going to get crazier and crazier because you can actually use a lot of coding tools to actually build tools.”
The graph that Worley presented to eager conference attendees was prepared by someone at the VC firm, Translate Capital, and it speaks to how AI is coming for all aspects of business.
“So this is a picture of an income statement, and when you think about sales, there are a whole bunch of sales tools, revenue tools, there’s customer support tools, HR tools, coding tools, marking sales tools out there to help you build your business. Now, I actually believe that AI is not going to take this job, but someone using AI might.”
He used participating in a job interview as an example.
“Think about if you came into the workplace today, you interviewed for a job, and you said you didn’t know how to get a job or how to use the internet, you’re probably not getting the job. I think we’ve got a year or two, if you know how to use these AI tools, it’s not going to do it good, so you’ll definitely need to jump in.”

From there, Worley dove right in, sharing AI tools that can be used across various industries, including graphic design, advertising, copywriting, and more. He gave a quick demo, mentioning platforms like Copy AI for copywriting assistance and Foreplay.co, which allows users to save ads they come across on social media. He also highlighted a tool that enables users to take a viral video they want to recreate, extract the script, and rewrite a version tailored to their business.
Other AI tools featured in Worley’s presentation included Tapio, which generates daily social media posts to promote your business, and Engage AI, which helps craft comments and engage with posts aligned with your brand.
In under 20 minutes, Worley explained that AI is designed to enhance the skills you already have—not to replace them. His presentation helped attendees understand how they can leverage this technology to give themselves and their businesses a competitive edge.
