Megan Thee Stallion isn’t backing down in her fight against 1501 Certified Entertainment. Earlier this month, AfroTech previously reported on the timeline of the rapper’s battle with her label, which dates back to 2020. There seems to be light coming at the end of the tunnel with her latest album “Traumazine” being that she and her lawyers claim that her contract should finally be fulfilled. “Y’all know I always have problems with dropping my music under this label, all these games and having to go to court just to put out my art has been so stressful,” she tweeted ahead of the music release.“ “Thank you hotties for rocking with me through the bullsh-t WE ALMOST OUT. LETS STAY FOCUSED AND RUN THIS LAST ONE UP.” But, according to a recent report, Megan Thee Stallion isn’t taking her boxing gloves off just yet.
Artists experiencing delays in their music projects dropping is a tale as old as time. Back in 2013, Buzzfeed reported on the unfortunate reality of artists not being able to release their music including reasons like artists being mismanaged, the label focusing on competition, stalling on getting their music ready for radio, and more. But as a The Guardian report simply put it, “But to writers and artists, your songs are your babies. It’s only fair that you get them back if they’re not being looked after.” The industry continues to evolve with the times, yet still musicians — especially Black women artists — are subjected to constant pushback from their labels. Oftentimes, they are left with limited options on how to resolve the issue such as trying to part ways amicably. Another way to musical freedom that can be quite a hassle is acquiring their master recordings. As previously reported by AfroTech, the likes of Anita Baker, Rihanna, Ciara, and more used their voices to earn back...
Megan Thee Stallion and Big Sean are the latest rappers being sued for copyright infringement for their single “Go Crazy” released in 2020. After dropping new music, sometimes artists find their celebrations cut short due to an unforeseen lawsuit — and these two are no exception. According to court documents provided to Complex, Duawn Payne (Go Hard Major) and Harrell James (H-Matic) filed the copyright infringement lawsuit against the Hip-Hop artists due to claims that their single was “strikingly similar” to their song “Krazy,” which was released in 2012. Before the lawsuit, Payne and James issued a cease and desist to Megan Thee Stallion and Big Sean in March for their alleged “willful and reckless disregard” of their copyrights, HipHopDx reports.
Megan Thee Stallion continues to show the world the importance of authentic relationships. The Houston native broke down how her love for one snack led to the deal she inked with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management services. During her appearance at the annual Cannes Lions Festival on Thursday (June 23), the “Hot Girl Summer” emcee shared how her love for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos was the connecting link to the Hip-Hop billionaire. Complex reports that Megan was originally scheduled to meet with imprint executives but was totally shocked when Jay-Z and her favorite snack joined the meeting.

From her lyrical prowess to earning an undergraduate degree while actively touring across the country, the Houston Hottie is always leveling up. With her next move, she’s keeping that same energy. The “Plan B” rapper has reportedly filed a trademark related to upcoming music, future performances, and clothing.
Gone are the days where are artists were solely focused on album sales. In fact, most people would be hard-pressed to find albums and CDs in stores available for physical enjoyment. Because no one really owns CDs anymore, listeners mostly rely on streaming services to enjoy their music. And with a focus on how streaming numbers affect popularity and accolades, artists are more particular about how the streaming data is counted. Recently, Cardi B was accused of boosting her streaming numbers ahead of the release of her sophomore album.
Megan Thee Stallion’s educational pursuits are inspiring others to follow suit. With all eyes on the rapper, it comes as no surprise that her presence at TSU has created a buzz that is already benefitting the city of Houston.

Founder and CEO Monique Rodriguez has built an empire within the space through Mielle Organics, an organic and natural haircare line created to produce healthier results for your hair. She is rightfully a pioneer in the haircare game, taking her line of products from being sold from her garage to barely staying on the shelves in giant retailers including Target, Walmart, CVS, and more. “My kids have been able to witness their mother, a Black woman, have a dream and go from their kitchen to big-box retailers, something that has changed my family’s life and for me that’s fulfilling,” said Rodriguez in an interview with AfroTech. To date, Mielle Organics is worth more than $100 million, drawing in a hefty $14 million in 2021, despite being in the midst of a pandemic. The company continues to soar to new heights with new products that keep the same energy that the company had when it was first...
