Lil Durk’s new initiative will support Black youth in his city.
UPROXX reports that the Chicago native has partnered with his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation to launch a career readiness program that will include an HBCU tour.
Future Careers
The reveal of the new program followed after the rapper brought 20 teenagers from the South Side of Chicago to a luxury suite for the White Sox’s game against the Los Angeles Angels on May 2.
“Today, we surprised 20 Southside kids with Sox suite tickets and @lildurk, who threw out an amazing first pitch!!!! All these students will be apart of our newest program where we’ll be taking them to HBCU Colleges & exposing them to different careers,” Neighborhood Heroes Foundation shared via Instagram.
The students will be heading to Atlanta for the HBCU College Tour.

In addition to the tour, the foundation will be flying out the 20 young men to New York City to meet and shadow C-Suite executives from Sony, Alamo Records, and the NBA’s New York Knicks. The program’s first cohort will also attend the NASCAR playoffs at Talladega Superspeedway to meet C-Suite executives as “a great opportunity to bridge the gap between the Black community and NASCAR.”
The intent behind the partnership is for The Voice to support in giving the youth from his hometown what he didn’t have growing up, according to his interview with NBC Chicago.
From Music To Tech
When it comes to the message of exploring different career paths, Lil Durk himself has been doing so.
As previously reported by AfroTech, he ventured into the metaverse after becoming the co-founder of NXTG3NZ.
“I paid attention to the NFT market, and I didn’t see much fashion. I saw art. Being into fashion and being known for my style, I felt like the fashion part of NFTs was missing, and being one of the first to fuse them together would be perfect,” he said, according to Forbes.
Lil Durk went on to share with the outlet that he was working on a deal with Grand Theft Auto that would include live concerts.
