As summer 2023 is coming to an end, so is AFROTECH Executive.
On Sept. 22, the multi-city series is making its last stop in Brooklyn, NY at The William Vale. The event will feature conversations with Arian Simone, co-founder and CEO of Fearless Fund, Abim Kolawole, chief audit executive at Northwestern Mutual, Wemimo Abbey, co-founder and co-CEO of Esusu, and more.
Closing out the event, there will be a networking reception presented by Remitly.

1. Ras Plant Based
Ras Plant Based is an option for those who are either vegan or just set on a vegan meal. Co-founded by Chef Romeo and Milka Regalli, the restaurant pays homage to Ethiopian cuisine with a New York twist. The menu features mushroom tibs, key sir, yatakilt, dirkosh firfir, and more.
2. Da Spot
Located in downtown Brooklyn, Da Spot was founded by Michelle Cadore. According to the boutique’s Instagram, it houses over 85 Black and people of color brands. If you’re looking to support independent brand owners, then look no further than Da Spot.
3. Café Rue Dix
For 10 years, Café Rue Dix has been serving up Senegalese and French food in Crown Heights. The restaurant’s co-owners are Nilea Alexander and Lamine Diagne — the latter grew up in Dakar, Senegal. If customers are in the taste for French food, there are menu items such as steak frites and on the Senegalese end, there is thiebou djeun, mafe, and more.
4. Cloudy Donut Co.
If you have a sweet tooth, Cloudy Donut Co. is your go-to spot. As previously reported by AFROTECH, the vegan donut shop is located in Brooklyn Heights. Cloudy Donut Co. is led by founder Derrick Faulcon.
5. NYBeauty Suites
Described as Central Brooklyn’s No. 1 co-working space, NYBeauty Suites hosts state-licensed and insured beauty professionals. Services include makeup, laser hair removal, waxing, eyelash extensions, and more.
