When it comes to taking action in supporting women, Nike’s Jordan Brand has held a steady streak. History was made in June 2021 after Michael Jordan and his brand unveiled their “WNBA Family” campaign, which marked the most-ever WNBA players to endorse the brand at once, AfroTech previously reported. “The world needs female voices, and we can’t ignore that or else we’re not growing,” Jordan previously shared in a statement. “The Jordan Brand is committed to giving women a platform to amplify their voices, which influence, inspire and push culture forward. These amazing athletes are defining a lot of things about Jordan Brand and leading a true conversation that’s impacting culture and our communities across the globe.” The brand’s dedication to advancing women has yet to cease as right before Women’s History Month comes to a close, it has launched its inaugural global Women’s Collective, Hypebeast reports.
Life is all about choices, but they don’t have to define you, and Larry Miller is proof. Larry Miller made a life-changing decision at the age of 16, and now he is on a mission to share his story to help others. As the chairman of the Jordan Brand — created by basketball legend Michael Jordan — he understands how this can be a lesson to us all when it comes to the power of second chances. After a turn of events in Larry Miller’s life landed him behind the weapon that took the life of another Black man, he found himself behind bars. Upon his release and entry back into society, the Philadelphia, PA native decided that he would leave that chapter behind him as he began to work his way up the ranks as an executive in the business world. “For over 40 years, I carried around the secret that people that I’ve worked closely with and interacted with on a daily basis had no idea about,” Miller shared in an exclusive interview with AfroTech. “And carrying that around for 40 years was really...

Wells Society for Investigative Reporting’s efforts to bring more diversity to the field. Announced in May, the grant will allow the Society to build a summer journalism program at a Historically Black North Carolina college, further its college internship partnerships, as well as launch a yearlong high school journalism project at a majority Black and Latina public high school located in Jordan’s home state of North Carolina. “Investigative reporting is the most important reporting in our democracy,” said Society co-founder Nikole Hannah-Jones in an official release shared with AfroTech. “It’s the reporting that holds power accountable, that unearths the way it’s wielded, that tells the stories that people don’t want [to be] told. Our democracy is in crisis as politicians are advancing a wave of voter...
