Snoop Dogg is going where the money is.
Snoop Dogg, who acquired Death Row Records in 2022, shared the low payout he received from streaming. After receiving 1 billion streams on Spotify, he recalls being compensated only $45,000, as AFROTECH™ previously told you.
“In the streaming world, I can show you right now. They just sent me some sh-t from Spotify, where I got a billion streams, right? My publisher hit me. I said, ‘Break that down, how much money is that?’ That sh-t wasn’t even $45,000… You see what I’m saying? So it’s like…when this sh-t came out, I could tell an artist that same song that you put out traditionally that didn’t make no money, give it to me. Every time you sell it if somebody else sells it you get 10% of it,” Snoop said on the “Business Untitled” podcast.
In February 2025, it was reported that Snoop Dogg was taking his talents to Tune.FM, a blockchain-powered platform created by Andrew Antar, according to a press release shared with AFROTECH™. The pair met at the Crypto Ball.
“I don’t f–k with Spotify anymore. I’m only on Tune.FM,” Snoop Dogg commented in a news release.
Tune.FM ensures that artists receive 100x more than traditional streaming platforms and instant payments. The platform also features JAM, The Official Currency of Music, described as “a fully tradable cryptocurrency built on the Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR).”
“Tune.FM operates under non-exclusive licensing agreements, enabling us to unlock new revenue streams for under-monetized catalogs and artist IP on both our streaming platform and marketplace,” a Tune.FM spokesperson told Billboard.
Snoop Dogg’s debut on Tune.FM coincides with the exclusive release of “Spaceship Party,” available only on the platform. Thanks to Tune.FM’s mission to empower artists, fans can also enjoy a host of benefits. The platform allows artists to set their own pricing, engage directly with their audience, and offer fans the opportunity to invest in music, earning a share of streaming royalties.
Looking ahead, Snoop has an even more expansive vision for Tune.FM. He hopes to launch VIP giveaways, host private events, and introduce NFT-backed ownership models.
“We are thrilled to welcome Snoop Dogg as the face of Tune.FM,” Antar said in a news release. “Snoop is the OG pioneer who is always on the cutting edge of technology and new ways of doing business. He totally gets it, and we are ready to take on the world together.”
