Nicki Minaj's Former Manager Claims He Quit On Her Right Before Massive 'Super Bass' Success

According to Insider, Nicki Minaj’s former manager, Sickamore, took a trip down memory lane to the time he quit on the rap superstar just shy of her landing the hit that skyrocketed her career.

“She had this VIBE magazine shoot, you know, it’s like a two-page spread, and she had a diner, and she got to the place, and I wasn’t there, and she didn’t have no trailer,” Sickamore her former manager, said in an interview with VladTV.

As the former Young Money signee’s manager from 2007 to 2008, Sickamore opened up about the incident that led him to walk away from the position.

“She had to change in the bathroom, and she called me like flipping out — as she should — and then I was cocky,” he shared. “I was like, ‘Man, I don’t need all of this. Just don’t worry about it, you can find your own manager.'”

Despite Minaj’s attempt at reconciliation following the outburst, Sickamore said he was not interested in patching things up, but he did work alongside her one last time.

“So she calls me back. She gave me an opportunity. She’s like, ‘Are you sure? Like, you sure you know what you’re doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, my own mother don’t talk to me like this. I’m not going to let anybody talk to me like this,'” he shared.

Shortly after they wrapped their final project together, Minaj’s big break happened.

“So we handled business. It was like a little bit of money or whatever. We cleaned that up, next thing I know, ‘Super Bass,'” Sickamore said.

When the hit single hit airwaves in 2011, “Super Bass” quickly became a fan favorite, ultimately charting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. At the time, it became the highest-charting song for a female artist as a solo act since Missy Elliott’s “Work It” in 2002, Glamour reports.

“I was just like, ‘God d-mn,” said Sickamore.

To date, “Super Bass,” has sold more than 12 million units across the globe.
