Black excellence is shining through the community even during a global pandemic. Although educational institutions across the country have temporarily closed, online learning has become the new method for teaching students.
Even while following stay-at-home guidelines and social distancing practices, students can still get a quality education from distinguished schools and universities online to prep them for their futures.
This summer, the prestigious programs for young Black girls and boys previously held at Princeton University have been canceled.
Now, Jacqueline Glass-Campbell, CEO of At the Well Conferences, Inc., is introducing these two celebrated programs through her organization to provide a remote enrichment experience for students.
#AllInTogether, a movement led by Rev. Toby Sanders for young Black men, was started to produce more Black male leaders in business, the arts, social justice, and science. It was also meant to instill values that will equip them to address global issues, according to BlackNews.com.
His movement will support From the Fire Online Academy, an online course that stems from the original academy, which has been housed at Princeton University for the last two years. The academy has the country’s most innovative summer enrichment experience for young men of color.
This year’s program chair is actor and director Delroy Lindo while Rev. Sanders will be in charge of the program’s curriculum.
Glass-Campbell’s second online program called At the Well Young Women’s Leadership Academy’s Online Distance Learning Program will be targeting young Black girls entering their junior and senior years of high school.
According to BlackNews.com, the core curriculum for this program will include classes specifically geared toward grooming Black female corporate leaders. They’ll learn critical thinking, college essay writing, as well as, attain higher confidence in standardized testing, and increase their academic achievement.
At the Well has previously partnered with many celebrities, high-profiled figures, educators, and activists who share their obstacles and personal experiences.
Recent speakers have included actress Nicole Ari Parker, scholar Julianne Malveaux, motivational speaker Brandi Harvey, and more. This year’s keynote speaker for The Fire Online Distancing Program will be Danny Glover.
The program being offered at a discounted rate of $199 for the first 50 applicants of each program.
