It looks like Emma Grede’s one rule is continuing to pay off for SKIMS.
During an interview with CNBC, Grede shared that she has one rule that could very well be the reason that she is the founding parter of a $1.6 billion company.
“I have a rule,” said the co-founder, according to CNBC. “You have to do things that scare you. I think that’s so important for growth.”
Now, the brand continues to smash goals and reach ultimate heights of growth. After the SKIMS collaboration alongside Italian designer, Fendi went live on Nov. 9 and sold out in just one minute.
Kim Kardashian first announced the Fendi collab with her SKIMS brand at the end of October and said that the partnership came about after meeting with the artistic designer of Fendi, Kim Jones, who not only praised the shapewear company but also loved the brand. After sending Jones a few SKIMS products, he traveled to Calabasas to discuss working together. And, the rest is history!
TMZ reports that the new line brought in $1 million in profits in just one day and that over 300,000 people signed up to be on the waitlist ahead of the launch.
In addition to her “rule,” Grede says relationships play a huge role in success as well.
“It’s all about relationships, and I’m very good at creating and nurturing them,” continued Grede in the interview. “You have to park your ego at the door and be humble. You’re essentially there to win somebody else’s business. That means knowing everything about them and [your] competition.”
She also explained why it is important to simply be nice to everyone across the board.
“Be super nice to everyone, no matter where they are in the food chain,” she continued. “Some of those kids that I was working with 15 years ago were assistants at the top agencies then. Now, they’re running their own agencies.”
Congratulations on your success, Emma Grede! We love to see a Black woman WIN.
