Breakr continues to find new ways to improve the creator economy.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the platform was created by Historically Black College and University (HBCU) alums and brothers Anthony and Ameer Brown to ensure artists can connect with brands and agencies and establish creative campaigns they are compensated for.
With an early focus on music, Breakr partnered with BMG and Sony Music and built a roster of clients that included Ye (formerly Kanye West), Young Thug, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, Future, and Gunna. Additionally, Nas is involved not only as an artist on the platform but also as an investor. He participated in a $4.2 million seed round led by Slow Ventures in 2021.
Breakr has expanded its scope beyond the music industry, adding partners such as Hershey, Billboard, Celsius, Samsung, and UMG, information shared with AFROTECH™ notes.
In 2022, 30,000 creators had onboarded onto its platform. In 2025, that number has more than doubled, reaching a community of 70,000 creators.
Breakr is now poised to elevate creators after securing an investment through the newly established Black Lily Capital, created in partnership with Live Nation Urban, Roots Picnic, Broccoli City, and Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman.
The fund was created to support Black founders in pre-seed and seed round stages by providing funding and resources within the live music sector.
“The creator economy has changed the way we all connect with audiences, driving innovation and economic activity at an unprecedented scale. Breakr is a tech platform that was a core part of Live Nation Urban’s marketing mix for the better part of a year. After meeting the founders and understanding their vision, it was an easy decision for us to invest in Tony and Ameer and their trail-blazing platform,” said Shawn Gee, founder and resident of Live Nation Urban, who will also be joining Breakr’s board of director, in a press release. “Our investment reflects our belief in the founders and in the transformative power of creators and the technology that empowers them to thrive.”
In its partnership, Breakr has also revealed its latest feature, BreakrPay™️. It is intended to resolve the hassle and stress that can be caused by 30-90 payment terms by enabling brands, labels, and agencies to compensate creators instantly.
“Breakr’s proprietary technology is revolutionizing the way brands and agencies connect with creators, offering seamless campaign management, real-time analytics, and instant payments—all within a single ecosystem,” Brown explained in a news release. “Our white-label infrastructure empowers partners to scale their operations effortlessly while maintaining full control over their campaigns and finances. This partnership with Live Nation Urban will allow us to expand our reach and continue developing industry-leading solutions that drive measurable impact in the creator economy.”
