Long-time hip hop heads are surely familiar with the works of rapper turned businessman Calvin Broadus, AKA Snoop Dogg. Since Snoop has taken part in a wide array of business and entertainment ventures, it should come as no surprise to learn that many of his children have followed suit. One of his most prolific offspring is his 27-year-old son, Cordell Broadus, who is best known for his time on the field for UCLA’s Bruins Football team. While Cordell could likely have built a brand off his father’s name alone, or even gone on to pro NFL football, the young mogul has taken after his father’s penchant for diversifying his income streams. He has branched off into numerous exciting fields.
Today, Cordell Broadus has an estimated net worth of over $2 million independently, and functions as one of the heirs to his father’s estate of over $160 million. Let’s take a moment to look into Cordell’s many revenue streams, his college football career, and any other pertinent information, and see what we can learn about the budding businessman.
Cordell Broadus’ College Football Career
Long before Cordell Broadus dominated the business and fashion fields, he dominated the football field at UCLA. According to a write-up in People, Broadus got his start playing high school football at the request of his father, and managed to do so well that he was immediately offered a contract with UCLA. He joined the team as a 4 star wide receiver, and played for one season before ultimately deciding to pivot to a future in entertainment. During his brief tenure with the Bruins, Broadus held his own alongside future NFL prospects including Andre James, Nate Meadors, and Josh Rosen.
While little is known about his exact stats on the field, Broadus was known to be a powerhouse during high school. He turned down offers from Oregon State, the USC Spartans, Arizona State, and more before ultimately joining the UCLA Bruins. On a 1-10 scale published by 247Sports, Cordell Broadus scored 7 or higher in all field categories, including route running, agility, ball skills, and more. Through his short-lived college career, Cordell was an invaluable asset to the team. UCLA Coach Jim Mora even remarked, “Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA” in response to the young man’s decision to leave the field.
Acting, Music, and Other Creative Arts
After making the difficult decision to leave football behind, Cordell Broadus dabbled in a number of creative endeavors. He launched an independent film company called Film School Productions, and began work on a documentary titled “Son of Kings.” Cordell has also appeared in a number of television and film productions over the years, including Snoop Dogg’s 2012 comedy “Mac and Devin Go to High School.” The young visionary even served as a producer on a 2022 MTV Video Music Awards Segment which transported his father and Detroit rapper Eminem into the metaverse for an enhanced and collaborative performance.
Beyond his work on the screen, Cordell Broadus has followed his father into the world of music production, and has even launched his own record label titled Real Queen Sound. At the time of this writing, Cordell’s music output has been quite scarce, though he has released a hit single titled “Bron and Bronny” on SoundCloud featuring Snoop Dogg.
The track, released over 4 years ago, was prophetic. The titular father-son basketball duo now share the court as Los Angeles Lakers. Per the aforementioned write-up in People, Cordell has explained “Through my music, I just want to represent myself and I want to represent individualism… I feel like a lot of people are chasing trends or being followers. I feel like when you create, it’s really taking on a leader standpoint and being bold and being brave.”
NFT Trading and Metaverse Ventures
Behind the scenes, Cordell Broadus is involved in stock trading, NFT generation, and other metaverse developments. The young man has partnered with brands such as Clay Mates and the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Broadus was even named the creative director of Doge Dash back in 2021. For those not in the loop, Doge Dash is a 2D platforming game. The game had players collecting coins to then transfer into real currency using crypto wallets. The game helped many people break into the NFT market.
Throughout 2022 and beyond, Cordell joined forces with numerous business entities to help establish a web presence, construct digital and tech deals, and diversify stocks into the crypto market on a large scale. These entities include his father’s Death Row Records, as well as Angel Investor and the estate of the late Tupac Shakur.
Fashion Career
Each of the previously mentioned endeavors have brought Cordell Broadus a great deal of success. However, none are quite as huge as his career in fashion.
Shortly after leaving the UCLA Bruins Football team in 2015, Broadus joined the fashion industry as a model, partnering with such high-end brands as Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, and more. Before long, however, Broadus expanded his business acumen into the world of fashion, and got behind the scenes as a designer and fashion director.
In 2018, he even founded Channel 21 Creative Agency, to rep new up-and-coming models and connect them with major brands. Cordell has even served as a stylist to rappers such as Eminem, YG, and Wiz Khalifa.
In the last year, Cordell Broadus has served as the co-founder of a pair of new business ventures, under the banner of Good Game Champ and SHARESTIX, according to his LinkedIn page. Not much is known about these specific ventures at this point. However, this just goes to show how committed Cordell is to not staying in one place for too long. The young mind has continued to craft music, work on films, model, and design clothes of his own. He did it all while entering into the exciting world of business and marketing. For now, there’s no telling what’s next for Cordell Broadus. You can rest assured his next project will inspire a great deal of love from his super-star rap mogul dad.
